Helmsdale Tackle Company owner Ronald Sutherland is now offering exclusive Salmon fishing instruction. Since expanding into bigger premises Ron now has trained staff in place and this has given him the opportunity to offer regular fly fishing lessons.
 
Brought up fishing the Helmsdale under the watchful eye of his father and ghillie of 40 years Andrew, Ron has amassed over 35 years of fly fishing experience for you to tap into. Andrew was ghillie for HRH Prince of Wales on his many visits to the Helmsdale.

Interested parties will have the chance to spend quality time with Ron on the river Helmsdale learning to Spey and overhead cast to the highest level. A typical day would include a complete overview of all salmon fishing tactics and casting methods from basic set up to detailed instruction on modern shooting head & long range casting. Ron has also fished in Russia and all over Scotland and provides tackle flies and advice to a large local and international client base.

Your day may also cover fly tying techniques, conservation, river safety and all matters pertaining to successful fishing for salmon locally and on an international front infact he will custom instruction to your exact needs and ability.
Ron can also offer demo facilities on a vast range of equipment from all the top brands on display at the tackle shop in Helmsdale.

If you are keen to fine tune your fishing prowess or if you just want to learn the basics, Ron will give you a day to remember and all from the banks of the famous river Helmsdale.

Prices per full day - £195 one to one and for up to 2 people
Hourly rate - £30 per person
